The Postman Cometh

Better than season one!
I've just finished watching the first side of disk one(there are three two sided disks just as in season one.) which contains the first six episodes of season two plus creator Sherwood Schwartz commentating on the episode "The Little Dictator". The color is fantastic as is the sound. The picture is so clear that you'd swear you were watching the shows in their original run. Much clearer and much more colorful than the syndicated television versions, and best of all, UNEDITED! syndication chops off probably 5 to 8 minutes of each episode. Unfortuneatley, there isn't much for bonus features, but just having each episode unedited in great color and clarity is more than enough, with a great price to boot.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The episode where Gilligan dreams that he is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde actually would be number 81 "And Then There Were None". Such it will be featured on the upcoming DVD set featuring the complete third season. There is nothing missing here at all. The 32 original episodes from the show's second year are there in all their technicolorical glory!

Just Sit Right Back And You'll Hear A Tale
The first thing that struck me while watching "Gilligan's Island" on DVD was the sharpness of the images and the vibrancy of the colors. After a hit and miss first season, the castaways really came into their own in the second season. For an uncharted, deserted island, they had an amazing number of visitors. The island was visited by four native tribesmen, an exiled dictator, two Russian cosmonauts, a sixties rock group called the Mosquitoes, female tycoon Erika Tiffany Smith, a robot, a lion, a Mr. Howell impostor, a secret agent dressed up as a ghost, and a mad scientist. The episode with the mad scientist is my favorite.

Dr. Boris Balinkoff (Vito Scotti) takes the castaways to his island castle where, with the help of Igor (Mike Mazurki), they perform experiments on them. The Doctor takes the brain of one person and puts it into the body of another person. He makes a mistake by putting Ginger's brain into Igor's body, because Igor breaks the chains holding the...

Home Run Showdown

Great Family Movie
This is a great family movie! Not sure why it didn't get a wider theater release! Story was sweet, the kid actors are incredible! Especially Kyle Thomas, he's a very cute kid and his potrayal is tender and sweet! Very convincing. I will definitely be giving this as a gift this Christmas!!
Highly recommend!

A Great Movie!
This was a fun family movie that reminds me some of the bad news bears (at least in some ways), but really is a story of determination to overcome adversity not only for the character of Lorenzo, but also for Joey DeLuca. Both have a journey that as a viewer of the movie you get to see and experience and it is through this journey that they grow and learn. The movie was fun, but also had a number of meaningful messages within it that brought out some great conversations within my home after we watched it as a family, and it can do the same for your own family. Good acting and character development throughout, which led to a movie that I am proud to have shared with the family!

Good Movie
I enjoyed the movie, but, i wish they had explaned more of why Michelle was so overprotective over her son.
But, for me, its rated PG-13, there was language not just by some of the adults, but the kids as well. But, with that being said, i did enjoy the movie, but, its in the spirit of Badnews Bears and Mighty Ducks, so, it would be better for older kids.

Journey To Grace: The Hansie Cronje Story

Great movie for the whole family!
This is a great story of the struggles we can face in life, how we can fall and the grace of God that redeems us so freely. Not knowing Hansie Cronje's story before I watched this, there were twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Very good actors, I thought, in a believable story. Definately recommend.

Great Movie
I love it when someone learns from their mistakes rather than allowing it to destroy them. great story and wonderful that it is true too.

WOW!
This was an excellent movie - the documentary section was every bit as good as the movie.
Very informative about the characters in the movie

Hide Away

"ONE DISTRAUGHT MAN FINDS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!"
A heartwarming and emotional story of one man who is a successful businessman, yet on the inside he's shattered glass! An intriguing story about his life, and how he finds passion to survive the pain and suffering of his past. He attempts to resurrect his life by purchasing a sailboat. Although disturbed by nightmares and continued to be haunted about his past, he finds a beacon of hope through repairing his boat as he repairs the broken pieces of himself. Packed with drama throughout, Enjoyable, Great acting performance and Inspiring. Highly Recommended!

A Year In Mourning: Rebuilding A Boat As A Metaphor For Life
None of the characters say very much in the mournful, but picturesque, indie "Hide Away" but when they do they're likely to quote from Homer's "The Odyssey" and Longfellow's "The Children's Hour." While poetic, it lends this slight picture an air of pomposity that doesn't serve the film's more simple themes. "Hide Away," in truth, isn't much of a movie. It is more of a mood, a sullen atmospheric experience that is pretty to look at but doesn't amount to much in the end. Luckily, the film stars Josh Lucas. An interesting and underrated actor, Lucas is generally fascinating to watch and his participation in "Hide Away" almost makes it a satisfying experience. As a minor character study, the film gains some traction. But the experience reads like an introspective short story about mourning and even at only 88 minutes, the film feels overlong.

Originally titled "A Year in Mooring," that tells you everything you need to know about the film plotwise. A man spends a year...

Josh Lucas haunting in skillfully crafted, dark night of soul
Give yourself plenty of unrushed time on this one. Lucas's performance is gripping as a man drowning in the extremes of surviving that which does not seem survivable. The haunting ways life finds motivation to take care of itself. Loved the extremes, the remoteness of location, the way small but critical kindnesses appeared when needed. Profoundly moving moments....Dialogues short, terse, dry witted or just without pretense. Much is revealed...unhurridly. Locals prod gently, carrying their own deeply complicated histories in wise respectful silence. Select, superb cast. Found myself longing for more repairing scenes, juxtaposing the discipline of restoration with patching human abysses. Lucas elevated this story to award winning levels. Director Peter Vanderwall is masterful with mostly nonverbal, primal survival scenes. Hide Away is a rare treasure of a film.

The Dictator - BANNED & UNRATED Version (Two-disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)

LOL
First of all, I dont see why so many people have given this a bad review... You must know what you are getting into before you watch it. Obviously there will be racy situations, poor judgement, awkward moments, and be offensive. This movie is hilarious (to me) All you people who got offended watching to movie why didn't you just turn it off? Every time I go to the theater to watch one of his movies people always are walking out... I ask myself, why the heck did you come in the first place? Seriously, this movie is not for the easily offended.

"Are you having a boy or an abortion?"
Sacha Baron Cohen does a great acting job in his latest film, "The Dictator." The gags are mostly good and although some are tacky and racist (with a few being crude) it still held my attention on a very rough day for me because it works as a parody of dictatorships. There is little about the plot and the film that I can add to the reviews already posted here; but I can certainly vouch for other reviewers who write that the film is actually pretty good entertainment, a parody and nothing truly offensive even if Sacha Baron Cohen is very daring when it comes to topics for jokes and gags.

The plot is not terribly deep; but it moves along well and you shouldn't get bored. Sacha Baron Cohen (who plays the brutal dictator of the fictional, northern African country named Wadiya) surrounds himself with excellent actors all turning in convincing performances that make the film even funnier. Sir Ben Kingsley plays Tamir, the rightful heir to the dictatorship occupied by his...

Soo funny and satirical!
For what it was, it was hilarious! A complete satire on terrorism and dictatorships. I feel this is a very underated movie and Sacha Baron Cohen has once again proved his comedic genius. This is one for the ages and will go down in history, like Dr. Strangelove. As for all the bad ratings, what can you say, true greatness is often misunderstood by the masses. Artistic Genius!

Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation

Great Movie, Terrible TV Quality
First off, I wanna say if I were just rating this movie alone it would be five stars. I grew up watching it as a kid and loved it. Especially Plucky's story line. It is pure classic 90's silver animation.

However, who else noticed how lazy they were with this DVD? It looks like a thirteen-year-old burnt it on his laptop. The menus are obviously templates and the themes have nothing to do with 'Tiny Toons' or Warner Bros. at all (except for the main menu). I expected the movie quality to be bad since it was converted from tape just like the episodes. But damn, it looks worse than it did on VHS. Hopefully no one who buys this will be watching it on a big screen. Your eyes may bleed.

Regardless, I'm glad it's out on DVD. I just wish they would have spent a little more time cleaning it up. 90's TV animation gets no respect in regards to video quality.

About time!
This was one of the best direct-to-video releases I can remember...however, that was 21 years ago. Lots of the jokes (Roseanne Barr singing the national anthem comes to mind) aren't going to register with new, younger viewers. Most of the movie should hold up well enough, though, that's it's worth purchasing. The DVD cover, however, is rather unfortunate. It's not an accurate portrayal of anything that happens in the film plus it would make the movie appear more juvenile than it actually is (there are several instances of more adult humor in this movie, although they should sail right over most younger kids' heads). But it's a very funny movie with very good animation made when a very good early 1990s animated franchise was doing some of its best work.

It's GRAINY!
This is a 5 star movie, don't get me wrong! My kids (12, 1 and 1) LOVE IT! I used to watch this as a kid and I love it too. However, I got this in the mail today, put it on and it looks AWFUL! It is not even a bit remastered, the Tiny Toons series looks better than this! Very grainy and the colors are dull! I own A LOT of TV cartoons and this is by far the worst quality DVD I own! I watched this on a 63" LCD, 42" plasma and a 32" LCD TV - the movie was equally bad on all 3 screens. I am so disappointed!!! The copy on YouTube looks similar, and it's free. I should have waited for it to drop in price, I am really upset I spent $13 on this! Great movie, but not worth the price the way it looks. The DVD deserves one star, the movie 5... I gave it 3.

UPDATING to add that I have decided to return this. Only adults handle disks at our house (very carefully may I add) and somehow this disk has started to freeze. It froze about 24 minutes into the movie and I...

The Aristocats

The approach Disney seems to have forgotten
Considering Disney's recent track record, it would appear that they think the average kid is maturing faster than before. Thus, they seem to put out movies that are dark and inappropriate for the average kid. The only exceptions to this trend are the wonderful Toy Story movies and A Bug's Life. Flash back a decade or two, and you'll find a different Disney, a Disney that made movies everybody could enjoy. Aristocats comes from that era. True the animation from this decade is weak, and the story loses a few points in some areas. The villain is also quite tame. All of that, however, disappears under the movie's charm, upbeat attitude, and general fun. It's certainly more fun than Hercules. People looking for something intense should avoid this. Families with small children and those who love adorable cats will love this movie. From this era, I also recommend Robin Hood. As I've said before, you just can't beat old school Disney.

Wonderful film!
I'm so glad that Disney made this film. I much prefer the more innocent Disney movies of the past. Movies like Lady and the Tramp and The Aristocats are truly fun, wholesome entertainment. Don't get me started on the new Disney films which are way too interested in pushing hit pop songs and attracting adults with more action, violence, and suggestive dialogue. I know things can't stay the same so I'm glad we have this film from a more innocent era. I particularly like the fact that the pacing is relaxed and the villain is not very scary. I'm always looking for what I call "calm" movies and videos for my 2 and a half year old. I don't want him seeing frightening or fast-paced images. Lady and the Tramp and Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas are other great shows for young viewers. Unlike the sterile environment of the Teletubbies, these movies are full of wonderful images and interesting music. I find the backdrop drawings extremely interesting and stylized...

Fine Family Fun, but: All Reviews for Previous Editions Lumped Together
There are over a hundred reviews for The Aristocats as of this date. They all refer to the previous edition (Disney Gold Classic Edition or whatever they called it years ago when it first came out on dvd).
So now we will have those reviews mixed up with new reviews for the Feb 5, 2008 version which offers more extras and a different aspect ratio. This may make things a bit confusing.

Moving on...
People compare this film to 101 Dalmations. This is Disney's "cat" movie, they say. You can't compare them; they're too similiar somehow.
But they are both decent, cute family films.
Yes, Cruella is scary compared to the bumbling butler Edgar. There is a sense of jeopardy but Dalmations is much stronger in that sense.
Both films were made using the 1960's Xerox method where the resulting animation is more sketchy looking and more close to the original animator's drawings.
The Aristocats is more of a musical, definitely. A few forgettable songs, but...

The Rescuers Down Under

An overlooked gem
You hear a lot about this film being Disney's first sequal, but don't let that freak you out if you've never seen the original Rescuers film. There's really no need to have seen The Rescuers to appreciate The Rescuers Down Under. The only thing these films share are the two main characters (Binard and Bianca) and the plot point of saving a child in jeopardy. Where the original was a touchy-feely story of abandonment, this film tackles the very different issue of wildlife preservation. I find this to be a far better film than The Rescuers (although I loved it as a child and still hold a special place for it in my heart), and a welcome change of pace form the usual Disney fare.

This was the first film to use Disney's new CAPS system of filming animation and the results are truly stunning. Bright vivid colors, blending and shading, sharp crisp lines, and subtle use of computer animation are the hallmarks of the "new" Disney and it all began with this film. The opening...

Fly Like an Eagle...literally!
This movie has a wonderful message about friendship and how precious every life is, be it human or animal. The film has everything going for it; great animation, wonderful background music, and a story that combines humor and high drama. The story is about how an Australian boy named Cody comes to the aid of a beautiful eagle, that was illegally trapped by a poacher named McLeach (George C. Scott), only to find himself later kidnapped by McLeach. Woodland creatures send for help via an elaborate telegraph to a couple of UN delegate mice, named Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor) and Bernard (Bob Newhart) in NYC. Bianca and Bernard enlist the services of a hilarious albatross named Wilbur (John Candy) and set off across the atlantic to...well, rescue Cody. The story even has a little romance between Miss Bianca and Bernard thrown in for good measure. The highlight of the film for me actually comes early. After Cody releases the eagle from the trap, he nearly falls to his death only to...

Kelburn Castle

Review of Crisis at the Castle
I enjoyed these 3 different stories that gives you a different slant on life in a castle. Maybe its not all the "life of roses" one would think. Unless you have unlimited funds, you must always be chasing that dollar (or should I say euro) to maintain your inheritance. A million dollar roof is no joke. Opening up your home to tourists and weddings, etc. must be a challenge as you will see in these 3 documentaries.

a good way to watch all 3 castle stories
A close look at three British castles that are at a deciding point. Can they be saved and kept in the family? Can business/event uses provide adequate income to meet the rinsing costs of upkeep? The families living in the structures bear their stories and lives to show the world that living in a crumbling castle is not all it's cracked-up to be. It's presented almost like unique form of reality TV. Middle-class aristocratic owners are shown in a new form of "Extreme Makeover." How to Avoid Castle Bankruptcy 101. There is an older TV series that fictionally presented something similar: "Monarch of the Glen" (recommended).

SUBTITLES available for all 3 different castle episodes.

120,000 annual visitors dropped to 50,000 as the castle was closed, only a visitor's center open. The family needs income to survive, and with two contemporary generations living under one (large) roof there is tension. Lady Ashcombe (a former Kentuckian) refuses to honor...

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

"Everybody Needs a Thneed!"
Based upon the book by Dr. Seuss (whose name is officially part of the title), THE LORAX has been contemporized a bit making it accessible to not only super-environmental-types, but to those who were raised upon conservation and not environmentalism. In THE LORAX, Ted (Zac Efron) is a twelve-year-old boy who lives in the plasticized, walled city of Thneedville. Ted is in love with a teenage girl named Audrey (Taylor Swift). Audrey doesn't quite fit in Thneedville and paints the back of her house full of colorful trees which no longer exist. She longs to see a real tree and Ted becomes determined to find one for her. During dinner one night, Ted's Grammy Norma (Betty White) tells Ted that in order to find out what happened to the trees and if there's another one to be found, he needs to speak with the Once-ler (Ed Helms) who lives outside the city walls. Ted has never been outside the city, but sets out on a mission to meet the Once-ler and find a tree. He succeeds in finding the...

It's not about what it is. It's about what it can become.
In the age of Hollywood's seeming endless films aimed against greed, consumerism, and environmental destruction, "The Lorax" is not to be outdone. Unlike the other films with hidden messages, this one is very direct. The voice of Danny Devito and Betty White made the film very special as you can see them in those roles. The film incorporates some of the original Dr. Seuss poetry to convey the message, but doesn't bog down the film with it as to lose the target audience who may not enjoy it as much as we did when we read the original first edition hard covers in the third grade.

The story is about the Once-ler (what's in a name? Ed Helms) who cuts down all the trees and at times looking like Elton John playing the Pinball Wizard. He did this to make the Thneed (a versatile Huggie) that no one wanted until a pretty girl wore one. Ted Wiggins (Zac Efron) wants to obtain a tree because the pretty redhead Audry (Taylor Swift) wants one. Sort of like Brad Pitt suddenly caring...

Another in a short list of quality films based on a Dr. Seuss book
After numerous attempts at live-action films, have animators finally found their groove when depicting a tale by the late, legendary Dr. Seuss? Or are the majority of professional reviewers correct in their belief that the subject matter is not expansive enough for a full-length feature?

Ted (voiced by Zac Efron) is a twelve year-old boy in the perfectly plastic metropolis of Thneedville. Everything in Thneedville is artificial and air itself is only available to those who pay for it. Ted (Efron), more than anything, wants to impress Audrey. Audrey (voiced by Taylor Swift) wants to see a real tree, but all the ones in Thneedville are electric and powered by batteries. Some even come equipped with a disco function utilizing music and mirrored balls. Ted asks his family where he might find a tree and his grandmother (voiced by Betty White) says that if he wants to know about trees he'll have to venture outside of town and ask the Once-ler. The Once-ler (voiced by Ed Helms)...

An amazing cast. A wonderful story. Technically beautiful. A remarkable first film for Brian Jett that restores your faith in movie-making. I hope there are many more.

What a truly refreshing movie. It is well-paced, thoughtful, visually stunning with great acting. It reminds me of a movie from a long ago era, when movies told stories and weren't relient on special effects and hip soundtracks. Anyway, for something different, definately check this movie out.

Bigfoot Research 2010, Part 1

Really?
A group of guys stumbling around in the woods telling stories and looking for bigfoot. Camera appears to be a home video camera, and not even HD. I think the camera operator is drunk as the camera is shaking constantly and out of focus much of the time. And they don't find bigfoot, huge disappointment.

BIGFOOT RESEARCH 2010 PART 1
BIGFOOT HAS REALLY BEEN BECOMING BIG IN THE MOST RECENT YEARS. WHAT IS TRUE, WHAT IS NOT? I THINK THIS IS INTERESTING.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
The Good...I enjoyed seeing this part of the Mogollan Rim in Arizona and seeing Sasquatch, Bigfoot or the Mogollan Monster activity in the form of tree road blocks, nests, tracks, guard-post sites, evacuation routes, etc. All these structures were intriguing and truly amazing if they are all what Mr. Waite says they are. Some new things for me to look for or be aware of when I'm soloing on my Sierra backpacking adventures.

The Bad...Mr. Waite needs to edit out or "cover-up" the heavy breathing which becomes distracting to what is being presented. What he presents raises more questions for me than answers with the "Bigfoot" structures and reporting what they were used for. I'm surprised that "the dripping Bigfoot urine" wasn't somehow sampled for possible analysis or the black object (possible baby bigfoot) wasn't a bigger surprise and somehow photographed for further analysis as evidence (trail camera??). I do appreciate the non-harrassment of the creature but it seems...

Dark Matters: Twisted and Amazing
I've liked John Noble ever since I started watching Fringe, and I couldn't imagine a more perfect host for this television show. Somehow, morbid yet fascinating things and he just go together perfectly. The topics chosen for each episode are so interesting! Keep it coming....

Dark matters rocks!
This show is very insightful about historical and scientific factors of our society and provides room for the imagination in the subject matter of each episode. The way in which information is conveyed is direct and simple thus allowing any person regardless of background to understand complex scientific ideas. I like John Nobles voice which really adds a flare of the dramatic to the show. Overall, I would say the show offers a great opportunity to remember great scientific advancements of human history.

OC WRESTLING season 4

The Long Awaited Season 4 of OCW
This DVD is the long awaited fourth season of the OCW online wrestling show. There are 14 matches featuring all of our favorite wrestlers from SCAB and the Brody Bros., to the ever popular Tyler Austin and the Young Bucks (TNA's "Generation ME").

It's finally here and it delivers.

As always we are treated to the eye candy of the hot jock-boy wrestlers who are all kick-ass performers; the venues are varied, and the action is hot and unbelievably enjoyable. There is no promotion that is as fun as OCW and no one else delivers such sexy studs and starlets.

This season includes some of the most lauded matches in OCW history: Dirk Brody vs. Dustin Cutler in a steel cage; Ryan Kidd vs. The Young Bucks; and Tyler Austin vs. Dylan Brody.

OCW debut of indy sensation, Ryan Kidd, one of the youngest and hottest wrestling stars around.

Definitely a best buy for any fans of pro-wrestling, especially as an alternative to out-of-touch...

The Best of the Best
I have purchased and enjoyed all seasons of OC WRESTLING on DVD. Like most sports, OCW offers the viewers a visual action pack of entertainment. Over the years with each new season, OCW just get's better & better. They still give us many of our familiar faces & fan favorites like, the Young Bucks, the Brody Brothers, those tough Cuttlers and that gorgeous Princess Miriam. Currently, they have introduced to us teen sensations Ryan Kidd & Tyler Austin (who certainly has the making of a young model). And yes, the divine Miss Eden who knows how to push her Brodys. I had to write this review after seeing the 11/24/12 review for this DVD. The review is obviously without merit. Certainly fake from the way its approached. This DVD is the BEST of the BEST. 120 minutes of non stop action. The day of the ring is definitely not over but OCW gives us a taste of the fight at the beach, pool, cage and lockeroom as well. That's just the icing. OCW offers something for both the guys & the gals. I...

Heavenly bodies collide in space
The haphazard camerawork sure takes some getting used to -- but assuming you do, this is a wild ride that restores
much-needed raw energy to "professional" wrestling. This could be called "amateur pro," actually, enacted by an assortment of very healthy young specimens who appear determined to "give the crowd a good show," and do -- a collection of maybe a dozen matches fought mostly in Speedo's (!!!) and largely with originality and style. Although it's a group effort, superstars emerge -- notably a perfectly proportioned, highly charismatic, extremely photographable character called Tyler Austin; he throws himself into this exercise with awe-inspiring enthusiasm. In a word: hot hot HOT.

Revenge of the Mooninites

Deliciously Bent
This is my current favorite DVD series. It's so absurd a premise and so beyond the pale of most cartoon series out there these days, that it has infinite appeal to both my sixteen year old son and to me. Our dynamic trio and their next door Jersey neighbor, the tank top wearing Carl, are the funniest toon characters in Television land. That's saying a lot as television is currently witnessing a true renaissance of cartoon humor.

The creators are the same crew that brought us the equally silly, but cutting edge SPACEGHOST COAST TO COAST. The same sort of hip, off colour humor that informed that show is at play here, only more so. My favorite segment involves a manic depressive, deadbeat, suicidal doll who has a negative, lifeforce-draining impact on all who come in contact with him. Other highlights include a pair of aliens who look as if they've escaped from some crude '70s Atari game. The punk talking little alien, err, is particularly amusing.

Of the three main characters, my...

A Cartoon Treat...
No description of any kind would make someone take this show seriously, for it sounds infinitely silly and stupid, but in truth, it just works. "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is, without a doubt, the funniest and most creative show on Cartoon Network`s "Adult Swim" cartooning block (a series of cartoon shows made for teenagers and adults that can take more risks than normal programming). It follows the misadventures of 3 six-foot-tall living foods: Master Shake, the leader of the Aqua Teens and a milkshake, Frylock, the rational one and a bunch of french fries, and Meatwad, a very... unintelligent wad of meat and the object of many a prank set up by Master Shake. They live next to Karl, an overweight man reliving the 80s who hates it when they use his pool. When they are not getting into situations on their own, they are battling anything out-of-the-ordinary, from a living, suicidal and depressed toy of Meatwads, to a juvenile rapper named "MC Pee Pants" to a pair of 2D aliens known as the...

You've tamed him with your greasy dance of joy
Aqua Teen Hunger Force ('ATHF') is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Starring late on night on the Cartoon Network's 'Adult Swim', ATHF centers around a narcissistic milkshake, Master Shake, a genius batch of frenchfries with super powers, Frylock, and a sizzling ball of hamburger meat, Meatwad. The three form a detective agency/squad (The Aqua Teen Hunger Force, natch) and noisily "solve" mysterious events, much to the continued annoyance of their pot-bellied and 'self-employed' neighbor Carl. Sound bizarre? You have no idea. ATHF is some sort of sick, demented combination of Super Friends, South Park, and all those unintentionally creepy cartoons from the early 80s like The Snorks. Read: it rocks.

This series is one of the most consistently entertaining, funny, and quotable I've ever seen. Each episode starts with some sort of bizarre creation or device either escaping from or otherwise being generated at the lab of Dr. Wierd in his castle on the New Jersey shore...

Episode 6 [HD]

John Oliver
The show is great. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but it allows up and coming comics a chance to get their name out there. I actually went to the recording in NYC which was a great experience by itself.

A good time
It's great to see these comedians without commercial breaks. Very enjoyable, it's rare you'll need to fast forward a bad set.

Nice Variety..
I enjoyed watching this comedy show. There are many different comedians and some are really great and some are mediocre. Regardless, it is an entertaining way to spend some time. : )

Below Zero

Solid Indie Thriller
You're a writer, but you can't write. You've hit a wall. You have writer's block. So what do you do? Jack, a successful screenwriter has an interesting idea - method writing. It works for actors, so why wouldn't it work with writers?

To give this a try, Jack arranges to have himself locked in a remote meat cooler with just his imagination to inspire. The line between fiction and reality, however, quickly blur in the new thriller, Below Zero.

Edward Furlong plays Jack, the young, hot shot writer riding off the success of his one previous film, which we learn wasn't even very good in the first place. Jack's agent is the one that sets it up to have Jack locked in a meat cooler for five days to finish his script, if he doesn't, the agency will drop him.

Immediately, Jack regrets this decision.

From there the story takes on a multitude of twists and turns as Jack tries to write his script while facing his own demons. The setup is all I will give...

IT'S A BOSH!
Jack (Edward Furlong) has writer's block. His agent suggests he lock himself up in a freezer for 5 days. In northern rural America, he meets Penny (Kristin Booth) who has just the place. Penny is very likeable. She has the "Fargo" accent and laughs at her own jokes with a snort. She is single and says things like, "You can make anything good with ketchup, just not a marriage." She aspires to be an actress or a screenwriter, while she cares for her mute son.

Once Jack is locked up in a room in a meat processing factory. The movie then becomes the account of his writing. But don't let this deter you from watching this film. Michael Berryman, the face of "These Hills Have Eyes" and an underrated actor becomes an unsavory character in the script. The film bounces back and forth from the script to Jack's imprisonment which is becoming more unbearable as the plot twists. Jack incorporates his surroundings and characters he meets into the story.

At some point you have...

Original horror with plenty of twists and turns!
This is a very smart and original horror film that keeps you at the edge of your seat. The fractured narrative works really well, ensuring that your brain is engaged throughout. Fans of intelligent horror will appreciate this film, and there is also plenty of great visual gore and unexpected scares. As a horror writer I found the film inspiring as well as entertaining. Also great to see Edward Furlong shine in this - the role suits him perfectly - very smart casting. Definitely one to watch!

Doin' It Again [Blu-ray]

This is Not a Concert Video
Before you pre-order, note that this is basically an hour-long documentary about the reunion. It is not a concert video, although it apparently does include some concert footage.

[...]

"The hour-long DVD features exclusive 2012 interviews with The Beach Boys, live performances from the band's 2012 world tour, never-before-seen footage from the 1966 "Good Vibrations" recording sessions, moving tributes to founding members Carl and Dennis Wilson and behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for their new That's Why God Made the Radio CD."

Posted as information.

Fantastic Program, poor format
This has been the summer of the Beach Boys for me. I have re-acquainted myself with their music, they have always seemed to be my first love. I got to see them in concert and was blown away by how powerful an experience it was, and have been listening to them nonstop. It is fitting then, that this should arrive at my door during the last week of summer, to sort of bookend the experience.

This show chronicles the creation of the band and features interviews, live footage, and behind the scenes looks at the production of their new album. It offers a very simplistic view of the band, there is no mention of the internal strife, lawsuits, breakdowns, etc. This is about the Boys and the music they make. It serves its purpose of showing us just how talented they are and have always been, and it truly is a joy to watch. For me, the highlight was the newly found footage of the sessions that gave us the greatest pop song ever recorded, "Good Vibrations".

This is not an...

better than nothing
As another reviewer said, this is little more than an "advertisement" to let people know "the beach boys have reunited". What you get almost defies categorization. We open with a glimpse of a recent concert, then a group interview where the Beach Boys discuss the reunion, then reflect on their past. From there, this is almost a documentary of the history of the band. But not quite. There are discussions of the formation of the band, their first recordings, a few partial vintage TV clips, chat about the progression of the band to California girls and Pet sounds, recently discovered original footage of the band recording Good vibrations, and then we wrap it up with another glimpse of a recent concert. If you didn't know any better, this would seem the imply that the band broke up in 1966, and reunited in 2012.

Some of the discussion is interesting. But the problem is, it's too short for what it is. Actually, I'm not quite sure what it is. It's not a complete...

Fist of the Reich

Surprisingly Good Film from 'controversial' director Uwe Boll
This is a biopic of the legendary German boxer Max Schmelling (Henry Maske). It tells of his rise to fame as a boxer and his meeting and falling in love with the Czech actress Anna Ondra (Susanne Wuest). It charts his rise and fall and how he ended up being on the front line in the Battle of Crete.

This is not really a war film and those nice folk at Metrodome have done the usual thing of putting all action shots and Swastikas on the front cover. There is some action, but most of the action takes place in the boxing ring. The reference to `The fist of the Reich!' is also not a referral to any sort of post watershed bedroom antics, but the fact that Max Schmelling was taken on as a model of Aryan success by the Third Reich and was seen abroad, especially America as being a Nazi, even though he really was not. He even declares `Ich bin keine Nazi!', but is told that 'You are German that's enough'.

The film itself is very well made, with any plot holes down to...

Excellent film
Everything about this film is first rate: the acting, the scripts, the costumes and sets, and the cinematography. The German title Scmelling is much more appropriate. Fist of the Reich is an inaccurate and stupid title for this very fine film.

MAX!
Overall this is a great movie- casting an actual boxer as the top bill gives the fighting and training sequences realism.
A good bio of a forgotten champion with an incredible life story.

A bit unhappy about the casting of Anny Ondra; not pretty enough, but this movie is top notch in telling the story- for you Fallschirmjager fans, there are only a few moments of max in uniform, but its not really a war movie. If you're a historical nut, you'll be driven insane about the uniform and military scene.

Also, one last rant; the title is just terrible, sounds like some sort of raunchy movie...

Suburban Heroes Vs. Season Two

Fun yet, well fun!
It is a good take on the whole documentary, real-world type of style with comedy and Sci-Fi that I like. There is a lot of times when things that are low-budget look like crap, but this is not the case, as a matter of fact you can see the quality consistently improving from each episode on. I highly recommend this series of shorts, they don't take long and get right to the point, no fat in these episodes at all.

And from a photographic point of view, it's beautiful. You can tell from the first season they were really trying to find that look that fit the series and they have definitely nailed it in this one. With the cliff hanger, I hope there will be a third season.

Best Indie Web Series from Michigan About Slacker Super Heroes You'll Find On Here!
I think the title of this review sums it all up nicely. This is a no-budget webseries that manages to deliver laughs despite the financial limitations of the production. Give it a chance.

Little Shop of Horrors

GoodTimes' Little Shop DVD is the one to beat
Unfortunately, Little Shop of Horrors and every other Roger Corman Filmgroup production lapsed into public domain years ago and have generally been available on VHS and DVD only in poor-quality editions ranging from merely bad to atrocious. (The only Filmgroup features to get a decent official or semi-official release so far are Bucket of Blood, Beast from Haunted Cave, and Night Tide.) After researching every DVD version of Little Shop of Horrors available (there are at least eight!) I played a hunch and went with GoodTimes to replace my VHS copy, and I'm very pleasantly surprised at the overall excellent quality of the source print. When I saw the "preserved using the best available elements" line at the beginning of this disc I thought 'yeah, right,' but I have to admit that this is the brightest, cleanest, sharpest (if not exactly razor-sharp) print of this film I've ever seen. The black level, contrast, gray values, and shadow/highlight detail are fine, and physical damage is...

Best-Looking Restoration Of A Legendary Cult Classic Comedy !
Roger Corman's Original 1960 version of "The Little Shop Of Horrors" is considered by many as a true cult classic comedy of B-Movies,even the most respected of film critics.Unfortunately depending on the tastes and opinions of film fans that were used to seeing this legendary film comedy through the public domain since there was a lack of copyright in the titles,(same thing had happen to "Night Of The Living Dead") and for many years since the dawn of the videocassette and late late movie shows, those versions were vastly inferior and often poor-looking in terms of presentation and contrast. Now the great folks at Legend Films have finally put out a brand-new definitive and excellent restored presentation of this cult hit on DVD in both the original black & white version as well as the disc's main presentation of showcasing a brand-new restored digitally colorized version too.As with previous selected Legend releases of classic horror/B-movies in their DVD series, the disc features a...

good movie: badly transfered
I had origanlly seen this movie on a late night horror movie host and loved it having already seen the musical version. I bought the DVD expecting DVD quality. The transfer to DVD is bad. It's proably one of the worse ones I own. It's a little choppy, very grainy and somewhat blurry. There's also a spotlight effect once in awhile that I don't remember being there before (where the egdes of the movie are a little darker then the center). If you look carefully you can see waves going though the picture during the first part of chapter 2. The sound is a little muffled. I rate the transfer at 2 (I'm sure there's a worse one) and only gave it a 3 becasue of the movie it's self.

Lovely Molly

NOT IN MOM'S KITCHEN!
The movie cycles back and forth between a home movie video that displays the time and date and a bad hand held camera that doesn't. Tim (Johnny Lewis) and Molly (Gretchen Lodge) get married in 2010 according to the camera, but don't move into her parent's home until a year later in 2011. We know that her parents, Ben and Tammy are deceased...in heaven watching the ceremony.

Tim is a truck driver who travels. He has installed an alarm system, one that goes off on occasion as if someone inside the house unlocks and opens the door. But they seemingly own no gun living in a rural area. Hannah (Alexandra Holden) is Molly's F-bomb dropping, pot smoking, blond sister. There is a mystery concerning the house and its past that Molly doesn't recall. She is creeped out by being alone in her childhood house. All this adds up to only one thing to horror genre fans who have seen this recently in too many films. However this film doesn't care if you gather this clue early as there is much...

Slow, gloomy, creepy
Spoiler free

This is a compelling horror movie for a few reasons. I am not claiming this is the most amazing movie in the world, but it ended up affecting me more than expected and for that I will give it a tip of the hat.

Why i liked it:

- Creepy throughout vs jump scares and gore.
- Events of the movie open for interpretation.
- The movie showed you things without context that just seem random, but later bring those scenes into context.

These things left me thinking about it long after the movie was done.

The found video parts were a mixed bag but in the end I decided that they were an asset to the presentation. there were a few really good video scenes while others were kind of pointless.

In the end I would reccomend people who prefer creepy over slasher type movies. The movie feels very depressing and thus it is not a very good date movie. I was in the right mode to let myself get absorbed by the movie,...

Slow-Burn
Sometimes the best horror movies only reveal their chills on repeated viewing. That's why, for me, atmosphere and creep are more effective than explicit gore and jump-out shocks.

"Lovely Molly" is like that. The first time I watched it I thought it was OK. Nothing too impressive, but certainly something I would pull out again on a lazy afternoon. The second time, I was amazed at how the whole thing seemed to fall into place for me. If anything, I found it more suspenseful and disturbing than I had the first time around. That's the mark of quality.

Huge praise to the actors, particularly Gretchen Lodge who does a fine job as Molly. Alexandra Holden is even better, I think, in the role of Molly's increasingly worried sister. And Johnny Lewis is excellent as Molly's husband. Such a sad thing that this likeable actor and talented young man (Johnny, not the character) was unable to counter his own real life demons.

One tip: make sure you have the...

Didn't work for me
I generally like twisted movies and this one certainly had an interesting concept. That said the dialog and acting were pretty flat and the movie didn't hold my interest. I give it some pluses for the unexpected ending but that didn't really redeem the rest of the film.

GREAT MOVIE!
I really enjoy all the Jason Gerbay films but waiting for this one to come out, I am a little disappointed. ABOUT CENSORSHIP! THIS MOVIE IS A WINNER!!!Come on SUBWAY! What a great promotional piece this would have been. The trailers were not censored and that's why I had bought the movie. It took alot of the imagination out of this film. A little disappointed, but I guess they have their reasons. It's hard to watch a movie with black and distorted squares covering parts up. If not for that I would have rated it a 5 star classic. I would love to have an uncensored copy! Come on Jason, hook me up!!!!

Season 6: Is It Worth It?
Season 6 is definately not the average Charmed fans' favorite season but it is definately not the worst of the 8. This season was pretty much up and down, with most of the bad episodes early in the season. There are however, some interesting plot points in this season. With the addition of Chris in the season 5 finale, we get to learn what he is really up to and if he is indeed someone looking out for the sisters or a new big bad.

The breakdown:

1 and 2. Valhalley Of The Dolls Parts 1 and 2 - With Leo missing, the sisters turn into Valkyries in order to save him.

3. Forget Me...Not - Wyatt conjures a dragon and it is loose in the city. The Cleaners also want to erase Wyatt from everyone's memory.

4. The Power Of Three Blondes - 3 blonde sisters want the Charmed One's identies. Pretty fun episode.

5. Love's A Witch - Paige stumbles upon a feud between two magical families and even finds love at the same time.

6. My...

I am a fan of CHARMED!!
I refuse to vote over which seasons were better. In my opinion, I loved all the seasons!! No matter what episode, the results are the same - Sisters standing united to fight against all the evils in the world and still come out smiling. I just wish they would just come out with the rest of the seasons so I can purchase them. Then after I get them all, me and my girlfriend will have a CHARMED marathon. No commercials!! Ain't it grand?!!!

witchy time
This is the strongest and more mature season of charmed. No matter what half the fan world of charmed thinks of it. Every episode had completely entertained me. My favorite one is where Wyatt conquered a dragon from a tv.. Boy I thought jeez that kid is so flipping powerful. And the courtship of wyatt's father was another of my favorite. Where Piper finds out that Chris is actually her son Which we all found out in the episode where they found the magic school pheobe finally solved the mystery thank god. This show has grown and envolved. Charmed season 6 is totally worth to buy. I have seasons 1through 5 and it is the best show ever created. Deeply sadden by its end. Charmed season six is and always will be enchanting.

Help Wanted

ONE OF THE FEW, GREAT AMERICAN SITCOMS
Family Ties is an American television sitcom which aired on NBC for seven seasons, from 1982 to 1989. At the height of its popularity, Family Ties was #2 in the yearly Nielsen ratings, as it aired in the prized time-slot right after the top-rated Cosby Show on Thursday nights.

It starred Michael J. Fox as Alex P. Keaton, the conservative, business-oriented son of liberal parents Elyse and Steven (Meredith Baxter-Birney and Michael Gross). Elyse was a successful architect, while Steven ran a public television station. They lived in suburban Columbus, Ohio with their children: Alex, Mallory ("Mal") (Justine Bateman) and Jennifer ("Jen") (Tina Yothers). Another child, Andrew ("Andy") (Brian Bonsall), was added later.

Saeson three includes the following 24 episodes:

"The Gambler" September 20, 1984
"Here We Go Again" September 27, 1984
"Little Man on Campus" October 4, 1984
"Love Thy Neighbor" October 11, 1984
"Keaton and Son"...

The Keaton family grows larger...and so do the laughs
It would be really hard for me to pick a favorite season of Family Ties, but #3 is tough to beat. In addition to a major change (the birth of baby Andrew in the classic 2-parter in which Elyse goes into labor during a public t.v. telethon), there are so many favorite episodes/moments: Geena Davis shakes things up as a housekeeper on whom Alex develops a crush; jealous Jennifer dressing up to crash Mallory's date; Steven & Elyse regret leaving the kids alone for the weekend; Alex taking calls on a crisis hotline. . .those are just a few off the top of my head.

True, we have to wait one more season for Nick, as well as Alex's great love (and Michael J. Fox's real-life wife) Tracey Pollan. But season 3 is definitely Family Ties at the top of its game.

Brings back so many memories
I Love this show. It brings back so many good memories for me. Thank you

Season 4 Reunion Special Part Two

A guilty pleasure!
Not for nothing, I love this show!

Jerseylicious allows a peek into the lives of real people that work in beauty salons in New Jersey. And what an entertaining peek it is!

We get to see the battles between the owners of several salons, their store managers, but best of all the hairstylists and make-up artists. We watch as they create their magic with hair and make-up and, to their credit, they all seem to genuinely care about their customers and helping people feel good about themselves through beauty. But the behind the scenes shots show how they treat each other and give glimpses into their personal lives.

I've been watching the show since the beginning and what started with one salon (the Gatsby) has slowly evolved to follow other salons as well (The Glam Factory and Anthony Roberts Salon).

At the heart of this show is a battle that depicts good vs. evil (in my humble opinion) when charming make-up artist Olivia takes on bullying...

Fun to watch

HBO's Atlantic City Hit Raises The Drama, Tension, And Betrayal In A Season That Redefines Major Characters And Relationships
Certainly one of the most admired shows on the 2010 television schedule, HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" boasted the year's most impressive pedigree with Martin Scorsese taking a production credit and even directing the pilot episode (for which he won an Emmy). This brain child of Terrence Winter, a primary creative force and writer for "The Sopranos," adapted the Nelson Johnson non-fiction work chronicling the sordid history of Atlantic City into a masterful blend of fact and fantasy. Embraced by mainstream critics and viewers alike, "Boardwalk Empire" picked up a Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Program and acting honors for lead Steve Buscemi at both the Globes and the SAG awards for its debut season. And yet, if I'm being completely honest, while I issued my highest recommendation for the artistry of Season One--it always connected more with my intellectual side, but never quite my heart. Season Two, however, became my passion in 2011. With richer characterizations, plot developments...

WOW!
So, I pre-ordered this, with the rest of my TV, months ago. No clue that this was going to be as big a set as this was. The series and season are good, they're excellent, but I'll let others describe those. Me? I'm going to focus on the actual product here instead.

This box comes with 3 Blu-Ray discs, packaged by themselves. At the price paid for it, you'd think that would be all you get, considering it's a pretty standard price. HBO goes the extra mile though, by far. This set ALSO comes with (separately packaged) 2 double sided DVD's with all 12 episodes.. But wait, THERE'S MORE!!! HBO also throws in one code that allows you to download ALL episodes, PLUS 3 special features, ALL in HD off of iTunes.

I've got, in my collection, probably 30, 40 television shows, most with multiple seasons. NONE of them have given out this much for this little. I think the closest I've seen was Chuck and Grimm with Ultraviolet digital copies (which aren't horrible, but they're not...

The Homecoming

One of my all time favorite family sitcoms!
The video quality on this season is crystal clear. I found myself taking in all of the props on sets. This feel good sitcom really starts to take off in season two.

In "This Year's Model" Elyse and Mallory are in a mother-daughter modeling contest and end up shooting a frozen food commerical in the Keaton's kitchen. This is one of the my favorite episodes where Meredith Baxter Birney really gets a chance to shine.

In "Baby Boy Doe" Skippy who is adopted decides to meet his "real" (birth) mother and in the end is happy to be able to go home and have "real" dinner with his adoptive mother. I know i will be buying every season of this show as soon as it becomes available.

Season 2 comes with a few extras "The Making of Family Ties", "Michael J. Fox: The Best Gig In The World", "The Year of The Beard".

I have not watched the extras yet but, look forward to doing so.

Much better set than season one
Family Ties really began to hit its stride in the 1983-84 season. There are many standout episodes, including Alex as Scrooge in "A Keaton Christmas Carol"; Alex & Mallory's trip to Princeton ("Go Tigers"); another memorable guest apperance by Tom Hanks ("Say Uncle"), to name just a few.

The real treat in this set is the inclusion of several bonus features, after the bare-bones release of season one. "The Making of Family Ties" offers both recent and vintage interviews with the cast. Unfortunately, neither Meredith Baxter-Birney or Justine Bateman take part in the new material. Michael Gross and Michael J. Fox talk with pride and passion about the show, and you may not even recognize Tina Yothers now.

There is also another brief segment with Fox, and "The Year of the Beard," in which Gross waxes nostalgic on his choice to grow a beard during the summer 1983 hiatus. Episode promos are an added bonus, and really took this viewer back to those great NBC...

The Beard Arrives
An excellent series from an excellent show. You know whether you want this or not, but if you're a fan this series has some classic episodes. Unlike series 1, this set has several extras (a making-of, a Michael J Fox interview, and a special on Michael Gross growing a beard (yes indeed)).

Charmed Ends It's Peak
Although many will say season 3 was the last great season of Charmed, season 4 actually holds the title. While later seasons do have their share of fun and excitement (even though it is not nearly as entertaining as the earlier seasons). Season 4 introduces Paige, the Halliwell sisters' half-sister. With oldest sister Prue dead the power of three is reconstituted with Paige.

Season 4 Includes The Episodes:

1. Charmed Again Part 1 - With Prue dead, Piper and Phoebe are lured to their recently discovered half-sister Paige.

2. Charmed Again Part 2 - The sisters finally convince Paige about their withcy ways and the power of three is reconstituted.

3. Hell Hath No Fury - After being filled with anger over the loss of Prue, Piper becomes a Fury during a battle.

4. Enter The Demon - Phoebe and Paige switch bodies and also have to thwart a demon in Limbo.

5. Size Matters - The sisters are shrunken to 6 inches tall...

One Of The Best Seasons
In Charmed Season 4 we mourn the departure of eldest sister, Prue Halliwell who, unbeknownst to us, until the beginning of this season is killed by a demon named Shaques (sp?). In light of this, the power of three is reinstated by their learning of a half sister on their mothers side named Paige Matthews.

This is by far one of the most suspensful and entertaining seasons as we watch Phoebe turn into the queen of the underworld, the charmed ones vanquish the Source and Pipers' first pregnancy. The show leaves off pretty much right where season three left off in terms of Coles dark past. The suspensful story line that follows traditional Chinese and Norse mythology in which a god killed the 'source' of all evil only to become it was one we had seen happening for more than a season. Now thats good story writing!

Favorite quote: Paige to Cole: "You were a demon AND a lawyer?? Insert joke here!"

Favorite Episode: "We're Off to see the Wizard"

1...

The new look power of 3!!
Well it's all change in the `Charmed' world now. I admit to not having high hopes after such a big character change, the top billed star leaving - how can you make up for that?

I'm happy to admit I was wrong. As much as I love Shannen Doherty, new cast member Rose McGowan is kick-ass. The younger half-sister is the daughter of a witch and White-lighter, so her power is a mix of Prue's and the `orbing' abilities of a White-lighter.

Also the main men Leo and Cole are given bigger roles so there is a huge character growth all round for everyone.

I've tried to keep the more personal aspects out of the episode summaries.

Charmed Again (Part 1)

Charmed Again (Part 2)

After Prue's funeral Piper and Phoebe get the shock of their lives when they find out they have a younger sister Paige, the daughter of their Witch mother and her White-lighter lover. But what will Paige think of the Halliwell's danger filled world...

A Big Gamble [HD]

Still excellent...
Still love this show, and it's still keeping pace with the first two seasons. Ballard, Jesse, Angie, etc. are quite the characters, and as one episode ends, you simply can't wait to get into the next one.

We literally have watched this entire series five or six episodes at a time...and I'm looking forward to re-watching it as "background noise" when doing mundane tasks about the house, etc.

It's very good.

**********

Of course, everything that I said about the first season is true here, as well...and more:

Visited this place this past summer (2013) and was amazed at how awesome of an establishment it is. To call it simply a "bar" is a gross understatement. It's both fascinating and a photographer's dream.

This visit (and my father...who's an avid fan), of course, turned me on to the show...which is equally cool. The characters are interesting to say the least, and it provides a good behind-the-scenes look at both the...

Full Throttle is the best!!!
This is the best show on Tru TV. I look forward to the new shows every week. By purchasing seasons 1, 2, and 3 I can now watch anytime I choose too.

Long Time Fan
I love the voice that UH brings to the show. Some of the dialog reminds me of people I grew up around.

Funniest Cartoon on Television
If you can tolerate the crude nature of the humor, you will find one of the most creative shows on television. You have to pay attention though, 'cause the humor is fast paced, and continuous. This is the reason you need to purchase the shows yourself, in that you will find new reasons to laugh every time you watch it!!
Give it a try.....

Great Show, not the best season
The show is absolutely great, but this isn't the best season. I'm not certain if more episodes will come out or if there will be another season. Also took awhile for Amazon to get the rest of the season up for download.

Haunted Island / Ghosts of Maui [HD]

This show is so cool
You get to learn history, and what things that spirits can attach themselves to make a place haunted. I would love to go see his museum or work beside this crew. Good show indeed.

Fun to watch.
Defiantly fun to watch when you run out of things to watch and need something else. I hope more will be made because I will defiantly watch thoughts too.

A Crew that Helps Others
Fantastic show that stands out above the other "ghost hunters." Why? Because John Zaffis and crew actually go out to help people, they solve mysteries and bring resolution to those in need....on both sides.

I hope they continue the show for endless seasons.

Architect's Apprentice

Family Ties and Michael J. Fox's finest hours
Season Five of Family Ties may be best remembered for two things: Baby Andrew grew up a LOT over the summer, and Michael J. Fox's amazing performance in the hour-long episode "A, My Name Is Alex."
(SPOILERS AHEAD)
Brian Bonsall joins the cast as preschool-aged Andrew Keaton. While Bonsall's screentime is understandably limited, the mere fact that Alex's little brother can now speak and interact with the others helps create some great comic moments. Alex also has to deal with the loss of steady girlfriend Ellen (though actress Tracy Pollan would eventually become Mrs. Michael J. Fox in real life). It's also a great year for Nick and Mallory, including probably my all-time favorite scene in which Mallory tries to tutor Nick ("High School Confidential"). And life would continue to imitate art when Tina Yothers tried her hand at singing after Jennifer Keaton joins a band.

Still, it's the groundbreaking "A, My Name Is Alex" which leaves the largest impression...

CBS DVD ruins another one!
Its so hard for me to give Family Ties such a low rating. Perhaps one of the best sitcoms in the history of television, complete with memorable moment after memorable moment, this show was the beacon of good writing, amazing acting, and performances we won't soon forget.

But I simply cannot stand by and not voice my outrage at CBS DVD and their butchering of the finest show in the entire run of this series.

Season Five featured an episode called "My Name is Alex"...a ground-breaking episode not only because of the superb talents of Michael J. Fox, but also because of how it was originally broadcast. When first aired, it ran for one hour, the final half hour being completely uninterrupted by commercials and, from what I can tell, unedited. It played out like a stage performance, with Alex (Michael J. Fox) going thru every part of his life, searching for answers as to why his friend would be killed in a car accident and he be allowed to live. Watching it in its...

Excellent season of a great show
Family Ties is one of my favorite shows and the 5th season is definitely one of the best. It's extremely well written, funny, and Michael J. Fox is at his best.

For the people confused about the episodes that seem "out of order" because all of the sudden Andy has gone back to being a baby and stuff like that...it is because some episodes were filmed but not shown originally.

In this season, The Big Fix episode was filmed for the 3rd season (1984-1985) but didn't air until the 5th. Matchmaker and It's My Party were filmed for the 4th (1985-1986) but didn't air until the 5th as well.

The One True Faith: Is That In The Bible?

No fluff. Listen to this if you want the truth
There are many catholic shows that are water down and don't get into the controversial parts of the catholic faith, so as to not offend anyone. Though some of these things are hard to hear, it is the consistent teaching of the catholic church. This video made me start reading doctrine to prove the video wrong, however all the writings of the popes and saints were consistent with the video. This video is not about making the catholic faith fit your life, it helps make your life fit the catholic faith.

THE One True Faith
Michael Voris is refreshing, intelligent and courageous in his quest to seek the Truth and tell it like it is - just that - THE Truth! Love this man!!

The true News Flash for many
This product is authentically Christian, relying on the authentic apostolic teaching, as St Paul admonished to follow the written and oral Godly Tradition handed down from the Apostles. Those who have closed their minds around "the Bible alone" and "salvation by faith alone" are (likely unwittingly) opposing God's word and opposing Christ by opposing those Christ sent to continue His mission of spreading the Gospel faithfully without error. Sadly, these lost souls will criticize God's one Church and God's authentic teachings, because they know not what they do. Christ indeed established only one True Faith, making one Church for His one mystical body... one flock, one Shepherd, one body of Christ. Jesus personally established His Church in the first century (33 AD), and promised He would be with it to protect if from teaching any error whatsoever, and this one true Church is His Catholic Church. He never guaranteed the behaviors of those who are members of His Church (including...

Sand Francisco Dreamin'

Season 5 Brings Many New Changes To Charmed...
Season 5 is a very interesting season to review. Many people have mixed feelings about it. Some say its the best and some say it is the downfall of Charmed. I somewhat agree with both sides, as my opinion is the first half is great up unitl the point where they vanquish Cole and shift into baby mode. Although some of the baby episodes are good, the show definately changed after the birth of Wyatt. This season was pretty light hearted with many baby-centric episodes but this season does have its dark points. Highlights include: A Witch's Tail, Sam I Am, Centennial Charmed, The Day The Magic Died, and Oh My Goddess.

Episodes:

1. A Witch's Tail Part 1 - The sisters help Mylie (Jamie Pressly), a mermaid, with a deal she made with the sea-hag.

2. A Witch's Tail Part 2 - Phoebe becomes a mermaid and Paige and Piper must convince her to return home.

3. Happily Ever After - A witch uses the power of fairy tales to create problems for the charmed...

A new season, a new cast make over...
Well, we had a character change for series 4, and we get another for the 100th episode* this season. Yep we bid a fond farewell to Cole : ( But there will be a tiny new cast member - this season sees the birth of Piper and Leo's baby.

Season 5 stills retains it's sense of realism with the added drama and wit that made CHARMED a huge success, but for me this series lost that special something that made it a must watch programme, though it picks it up as it nears the end.

A Witch's Tail (1)

A Witch's Tail (2)

Phoebe is turned into a mermaid, giving her a cold heart and she runs away from her problems. Paige struggles balancing her charmed one life with her work life. Pregnant Piper begins to suffer from panic attacks.

Happily Ever After

The sisters are transported into classic fairy stories - Piper Little Red Riding Hood, Phoebe into Cinderella, and Paige into Snow White.

Exploring New Territory
Season 5 of Charmed brought about a new direction for the series. In season 4 the show took a very dark path and brought a more serialized element to the series. Season 5 brought Charmed into the light and showed other elements that the show is able to accomplish. During the first four seasons the show tended to mainly explore the human world and the underworld. In season 5 we saw other elements in the magical community and innocents that the Charmed ones needed to save that weren't always human, but mermaid and nymphs. While the show had it's much lighter moments this season it also had it's dark points as well with the character of Cole going crazy from the powers he asorbed in the finale of season 4 and the inevitable vanquish of his character in the 100th episode. Then we had great family moments with the birth of Piper's son in "The Day the Magic Died" and how the character of Piper evolved into becoming a great mom and protector. Then once again the drama picked up in the...

The Devil's Cock

Better than the title indicates
I came into this movie with pretty low expectations, and boy was I surprised!

Definitely a splatstick film.. tons of blood, gore, and wooden acting. BUT - and this is the key point - it was well done.

Sure the VFX are weak. Sure there's no CGI to speak of. But it has the critical HUMOR intact and doesn't take itself too seriously. There were some serious surprises and whomever wrote this worked some good twists into the script. I got a lot of laughs out of the over-the-top stereotypes.

Not grand cinema, but worth a rental. Definitely now onmy list of "funnier thanit should be" movies.

Enjoy it for what it is
We were looking for a cheesy B-movie to watch, and The Devil's Cock sure fits that bill! In the same category as Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (only apparently with a much lower budget), TDC looks like it was made with love and shoestrings - and a chicken puppet. And some ketchup. And a twelve-year-old with a computer. Anyhow, if you're willing not to take it seriously and just go for the laughs, it's great. The actress who plays Mascara (I'm guessing that's Thirtina O'Blivion?) is terrific, totally chews up the scenery, and you can't help but root for the tough redneck girl who won't let the devil loose in her little town. If you have an hour to kill and flexible expectations, then this might just be the movie for you!

Better than expected!
This is a movie that you need to experience at least once in your life. It's "heart" makes up for the low budget quality, so don't let the lack of production value throw you off. It is definitely worth watching through to the end for the sake of the story, which has some great twists and memorable characters. It's a great ride! I'm looking forward to seeing more from this director.
